Yew English Longbow Making Courses 2017
Ever wanted to learn how to make your own self yew English Longbow? Now you can make your own to keep with master bowyer Jamie MacDonald of Ravenbeak Natureworks.
We have 2 courses running in 2017 5th-8th October and 12th-15th October and is designed to teach you to make a bow up to 65lb from a Pacific Yew stave to the finished English Longbow in a very small group environment. No previous bowmaking experience required. It includes everything you'll need to know even down to the nocks and making a string. Each day will start at 9am until 5pm and will be full of bowmaking. After booking your place, you will be contacted in advance of the workshop to discuss your own personal specifications for your bow, (such as the poundage draw length), to ensure your bow is unique to you. Jamie is a well known master bowyer who works only with Yew.
He has kindly agreed to fly over from Canada to run these courses and will be shipping over some of the tightest grained pacific yew staves you have ever seen. You will be working very closely with the wood to create the bow of your dreams using only hand tools. All tools and materials will be supplied and you’ll have tons of fun in the process! Tea and coffee will be available but please bring your own lunch or we have a cafe within the centre.
